Don't bother naming anywhere in England with this one. It ain't English.

This picture was taken especially for Guess the Station, so the picture is exactly as it was when taken (except for only being at 40% of its original size).

No takers? A hint: This station has NEVER been used in Guess the Station, and hasn't even been guessed since April.

(Of course, OxtedL's statistics may suggest otherwise; I'm only going from what the Search function suggests.

I can't think of anywhere it might be, and seemingly no-one else can either.

Not having painted lampposts suggests more likely Welsh than Scottish, but everything is new and shiny, and the island platform/terminus feel leads nowhere as far as I can tell...

Another clue: During off-peak periods this station has an hourly service. However, part of this station's route has a better service.

The hourly service alluded to is direct to one of Belfast, Cardiff, Edinburgh or Glasgow. And obviously I've been there, so don't bother suggesting anywhere north of the Central Belt in Scotland.

Your clues tell us very little extra. No-one is guessing because we don't know where to start.

Not that I'm sure I agree - how many other stations match these clues and have either an island or terminus platform? - but whatever.

There is a second station in this town, which functions as a terminus at peak times. There are only five letters in the town's name.

If anything, I would suggest I've been overly lenient with the clues so far; if you don't know where to start, just post any old station that is at least remotely feasible (i.e. a non-electrified station outside of England in this case, as Matt did).

EDIT: Sorry; I see you've suggested Cumbernauld. As you can surely tell from the above, it is not correct.

OxtedL, this is yours to lose. It begins with "L" and is in Northern Ireland.

Doesn't matter - it is. Behind the fencing to the right is a large car park -esque area (whhich I seem to recall having mainly containers in it).

What source are you using to suggest that it may not be Larne Harbour?

If you look at the picture on Wiki, here, you will see that there is indeed very little similarity between it and my shot - because they are facing in opposite directions. Mine was probably taken further down the platform also.
