It is not Ashford because it was completely rebuilt in the 1960s before another rebuild in around 2000 for the HS1.

I ruled out my local station Tonbridge because it was a 1930s rebuild with rectangular windows.

Back to the original question and I would suggest it is possibly a SE London (Metro) suburban station rather in Kent.

Still trying think which one...???

Trivia for you: that was the first appearance of Canterbury East on this thread.

However, Canterbury West has appeared. Once. It was pretty close to 50% of the way to where we are now: http://www.railforums.co.uk/showthread.php?p=628677
