Open floor? Try this one out (I suspect it may go quite quick!)

Looks a bit like Berko to me, if I'm right I'll be off to bed at 12, and not around tomorrow, so open floor.

Bedpan is correct - its Berko - went to see the tilt on the Pendolinos that loads of people have said about - seems pretty evident to me :P

Apologies for not getting back a bit sooner - been on RW2 :)

Hmm, it's not on the Buxton Line so that rules out Chapeltom's back yard :p

Hmm, I seem to remember an article about a station near Huddersfield that had loads of steps to access the platform, can't remember where though.

OK, so we have analysed about a third of the thread now. The largest complete section runs from 1 to 3000 (posts), so I will now post statistics on these posts only.

Just a brief word on methodology - each post has been categorised as either an incorrect guess, correct guess, picture, response from poster of this picture, or other. This is not an exact science, but we have done our best. I should point out, for instance, that whilst we have 270 "pictures" in this region, only 253 seem to have confirmed answers.

Please remember that we're only human. A lot of what happens on this thread is too complicated to analyse simply, so take this all with a certain pinch of salt.

Top correct guessers (up to 3000 post mark):
Track Basher 33 [wins interim "most time spent memorising what stations look like" award]
4SRKT 23
MattE2010 21
IanPooleTrains 19
Matt Taylor 18
thefab444 16

Top incorrect guessers (up to 3000 post mark):
IanPooleTrains 241 [wins interim "woah, just woah" (or should that be "biggest bullsh*tter"? No offence intended to recipient) award] :D
Track Basher 123
MattE2010 78
Ivo 73
91107 49
Matt Taylor 29

Top "other" posters (up to 3000 post mark) NOTE: "Other" sometimes includes things relevant to pic, but largely not.
4SRKT 104 [Joint winners of "Most time wasted on this thread" interim award]
Track Basher 104
IanPooleTrains 99
MCR247 42
Ivo 42
MattE2010 41

And finally (on this round),
Most self "responses" per photo posed (3000): (used as a temporary measure of how difficult the photos posted are)
Lad Brookes 8.00 [wins interim "most tricky pictures" award (until I program my computer to find a better analytic method!)]
ainsworth74 5.67
Tugzrule 5.25
gnolife 5.00
Track Basher 4.05
12CSVT 4.00
matt 4.00
MattE2010 4.00

We have made astonishing progress on the census, but volunteers are still needed, mainly to stop paulravuslante from going braindead (he has done at least 1300 of the post analysis)!

Whoa, I didn't recognise Lostock Hall at first, even though the Wikipedia picture is mine

The shelters were my biggest doubt that it was Lostock Hall, because everywhere else had a picture of different shelters on the platforms. They must have been replaced recently.

Speaking of shelters. Try this one.....

You're both too far north. There are some subtle clues in the picture. I'd say the main material that the waiting shelter is made of is the most obvious.

While we're on shelters, here's a nice one for the next few minutes or so.

Not mine.
