David, this thread is most active between the hours of 1700 to 2000 I think (about to do analysis - god I'm sad) with surges around midnight and noon, and longer bursts of activity during winter weekends.

Haven't checked this, will get back to you... Not guessing for a while, got to post elsewhere first, have become suddenly self concious :D...

It's definitely around Manchester, the no smoking sign in the shelter is in Northern's style.

Chassen Road?

Use this as you will...

Impressive :) As we're now on the climb to peak time, I'll add / confirm the clues:

-Northern TOC - correct
-Around Manchester - the station has services to Manchester
-The station has two platforms - the two we can see in the photo
-I am taking the photo from the platform for Manchester-bound services
-The photo is recent - i.e. there's been no new infrastructure installed since the photo to confuse you.

My next clue, if required, will take the form of another statement, plus an additional photo looking down the line :)

Eccles?

Just to add to my graph above, people tend to stay up later on fri-mon than mid week. Just in case I haven't advertised MY GRAPH enough now

It really is a lovely graph :)

Eccles is a good guess, but Eccles is not it.

Three bonus clues, based on the Eccles guess:-
-There are no additional (e.g. Goods avoiding) railway lines out of shot
-You're too close to Manchester
-This station has services to all central Manchester stations.

Here's one. What is it with the gigantic orange bell-end Colas Rail have for a logo?

Any ideas where the shed is though? The amount of platform visible may be down to IPT levels, but it's still a valid entry.

Surely Ribblehead is right, so I feel no need to guess.

Just in case you hadn't realised, the only reason I've posted is to advertise MY GRAPH 10 posts ago.

Ribblehead is correct. Had a belting time there this afternoon. Saw the Colas Rail shed run across the viaduct to Blea Moor to run round its train and come south. Also saw two coal trains, 4 service trains and a 67 on a special.

Indeed. It was nice to be able to get shots of the viaduct with a train on it, rather than just as a feature of the landscape. Also nice to see this timber flow, which I didn't know about. Anyone know where it goes? Shotton I would guess, but what route? Good that the line has some *real* purpose other than ferrying day trippers from West Yorkshire to get away from the grime for a few hours.

My hunch was a little off:

If you beg me I'll do weekends as well :D

Use this as you will...

I thought I was sad...!

I'll take the floor, seen as no-one seems to want to.

I am almost out of usable shots, so this may well be my last before I get my new cable on Friday (I hope). A fine choice of subject, I feel

I'd be tempted with Oxford as a guess except that I'm sure that station has the new style CISs and not the old monitors.
