Yeah get yourself down the WCML sometime: Not nearly as fascinating and bizarre to a north eastern fella as it was when 86s, 87s and 90s were the order of the day in all sorts of strange combinations, but the Pendolinos are an absolute beast of an EMU and the switch-back corners around Tring are great fun with tilting trains!

What do you expect? I grew up in Essex Juice Land! :cry: In fact, barring Norwich to Lowestoft and back, ready for a holiday in nearby Kessingland, I had never even seen Regional Railways livery until I found it on the Internet! And worse, until I started travelling for Uni interviews, the WCML to Brum, Liskeard to Looe and the afore-mentioned run from Norwich to Lowestoft (and Manningtree/Ipswich to Norwich) were all I had outside of Essex, London and a select few radial routes to the likes of Alton, Sittingbourne, Brighton, Hastings and Reading! All Southern Region!
Still, shows how much progress I've made since. And I've gotten to see so much more of the country; indeed, not counting the A55 and M4 to and from Ireland with my father (and one stop at Cardiff Airport whilst he was working), I had never been into Wales until December 2009 - and even worse, until barely 13 months ago the furthest north I had ever been was Scarborough (and even then both it and the second furthest, Preston, related to University interviews)!
First not savvy with Regional Railways Express, and now Dutch?The UK rail scene in the nineties really passed you by didn't it!
You missed out on some good times. Not as good as the eighties I'm led to believe, but I'm too young to know about that!

Well you've probably seen a lot more EMUs than I have! I was in my early teens before I got to see any railways south of Doncaster: I got to cover an awful lot north of there beforehand as far as Kyle of Lochalsh though. Pacers and Sprinters, 37s and 56s were the order of the day in my formative years, growing up in the heart of "Load Haul" country
Not Atherstone, but all guesses so far excepting Grantham have been on the right lines.
Now that I'm thinking a bit better after a coffee, perhaps it is Carlisle? Wires certainly look familiar.
I'll have to get out on the Pretendolino one day, failing that anything that is not a Voyager or proper Pendo. Still have quite a lot of the country to visit, unfortunately it seems to be most of the West Coast I haven't done.

Its not Carlisle either.
There are plenty of bits of Britain I have yet to see, though I havent half got around over the last few years. One of my biggest omissions is Devon and Cornwall, a situation I will have resolved by next weekend!
Its been reported on this forum that the days of the Pretendolino in regular passenger service are numbered for the time being, due to tightening up rosters for the Pendolinos, and its possible that 390054 may not be too far (couple of months) off entering service in nine carriage form. Just hearsay mind.

I switched it on at 0600 when I got up and MSC had the fastest time for quite a while. I was thinking the old order has been restored.

Don't know what FGW are doing tonight they are obviously on go slow.
On the WCML nothing like flying around on a rake of Mk1s and a roarer on the front. I was going to attempt the pretendo on our next trip but it is not running good friday. The last 2 90s I need for haulage are FL.

It is a 1980s thing. It was done as a low cost improvement to stations.
Not sure what I'd rather see, that or plain concrete. I noticed at Kirkcaldy that most of the platform seems to have it, which can't be good for Elf and Safety.
