Lancaster? Before people ask why, I'm guessing Lancaster because 2 photos before TB put up one of that 47 on a tour from Lancaster-Aberdeen, so I'm wondering if the tour was called the Lancastrian, in which case Lancaster is a reasonable guess. Or I could be completely wrong.

Good logic but not Aberdeen.

The 47 was 47485 which was allocated to CD at the time but this is not going to help. And this was a different trip a couple of weeks later.

Steamy Brian gets it again. NXEA you were nearer with your incorrect guess at Aberdeen. This train was in fact going to Lancaster. It was a return excursion from Kyle of Lochalsh to Lancaster. What is unusual is that the 47 is in the Kyle/Far North Platform but is departing to the south. The train stood on the bridge over the river ness (the one that collapsed) and changed engines from 37 to 47 and then arrived in the west facing platform. The train then reversed out and departed past the back of the depot via Rose St curve and departed south.

This was a couple of weeks after the trip to Aberdeen.

We were not impressed to have a CD 47 from Mossend Yard and back.
