Beg pardon, but I didn't know Taunton had a platform with two faces? It has 4 through platforms and one bay; did it used to have the arrangement as per the photo? I never knew that it did...

This photo was taken in 1985. There used to be a bay platform at the Exeter end on the station. This is what is now the Exeter bound platform. The train on the right is heading west and has a peak on the front. I had just got off. The station was resignalled a couple of years later and all the semaphore signals disappeared.

This photo was taken in 1985. There used to be a bay platform at the Exeter end on the station. This is what is now the Exeter bound platform. The train on the right is heading west and has a peak on the front. I had just got off. The station was resignalled a couple of years later and all the semaphore signals disappeared.

Ahh ok, thanks for the information. Saying that, it looks familar to me now, I remember seeing a picture of a 43xx locomotive coming in from Barnstaple and South Molton at that platform if I remember correctly.
