Was thinking Preston-Liverpool line, but the 47 has a high intensity headlight which I think were fitted early to mid 80s, and I think by then that line was effectively severed at Ormskirk.

So, I'll go for another line entirely and say Parbold as there was a signal box there.

No. None of these.

As above. This station used to see the ocassional charter train going through but never stop. Now the only trains now passing through or stopping are DMUs. You very very rarely get charter trains down this line any more. They are very difficult to run because of subsequent signalling changes.

This station has not seen loco hauled service trains passing through in at least the last 20 years.

Signalbox looks like the one at Helsby...

It does a bit but is much smaller.

This was originally an intermediate box controlling the level crossing but now controls the entire line.

Preston controls Wigan-Shap, and to Salwick, Colne and Burnley Manchester Rd. Several control Blackpool North, and Blackrod controls Blackrod only, Manchester and Preston control the rest, and Preston controls Bolton-Blackburn.

Nearly correct. Preston is just North of Wigan (Balshaw Lane area) to Just North of Carnforth (Milnthorpe). Carlisle does Milnthorpe to Quintinshill. This station has it's own signal box and is quite clearly not Preston so work out what is left.

Preston box covers most of Lancashire but not all.
