Most, but not all, of what's visible is no longer there, but the bit of railing in the left foreground was still there to lean against when I was last there about six years ago.

Add - and the platform visible is still there.

Nah, it probably didn't but I think it was a 3 way junction so it was the best I could think of

Can I throw in my first thoughts-
Concentrating on the signals which look like upper quadrants.
I would like to rule out Great Western Railway as they used mainly lower quadrants..
The lattice signal posts could be LNER.....?
Am I correct..?

Er, no - not Caldicot. Or Tring for that matter.

Yes it is a former LNER station - in fact at the time the photo was taken, or shortly before, one of the display cases on the counter in the buffet had 'LNER' on it.

Time for clues?

The lines going off to the right are to the locomotive depot seen in the distance. Related to that is the short siding leading off from the double slip in the foreground. This was used in connection with engine changing.
