Both you and Oxted L are going to really kick yourselves when the answer is eventually revealed!

It could, maybe, possibly..

...EPSOM..

It is on a high embankment.
The northside looks down on to houses.
It has two island platforms.
It was built in 1929 (Southern Railway architecture)

Sorry Brian, neither you nor anyone else is right yet.

You are getting warmer, though, but I'll give you a clue - the station in the picture does not have two island platforms.

( It would also be quite honest if I said I was not standing on a platform when I took the picture, but that doesn't actually help. )

The houses in the background scream zones 4-6 London, or nearby, and probably South London. The kiosk on the left also strongly suggests South London although that may be more misleading.

The right hand side of that fence looks like one of the retractable gates you would see on fast lines, which is perhaps why we've all been guessing stations with fast lines. The location of the canopy makes it seem there is a platform behind that fence, so it feels like an island platform.

I can't help but feel Peter's clues about platforms are very carefully worded. One possibility is that he is standing on a tram platform. The only one that could possibly fit is Mitcham Junction. I will guess that, though it would be very surprising.

Yes, very carefully worded... and it's not Mitcham Junction either. That's not elevated so it would indeed be very surprising...

Or it could be taken out of the window of a train..

It was, but the question now is whether or not that would make any difference to the angle of the picture... ;)

To be honest, I am quite surprised that this one has lasted this long. Perhaps if it hasn't gone by tomorrow I should start giving more clues...

The post holding up the roof is blue and orange which IIRC are old Thameslink colours. Now if Epsom was close-ish according to Peter, then is it the Sutton Loop.... Let's try Morden South?

OK, here's a clue: It's not Lewisham!

A more serious clue: When I agreed I had taken the picture from a train, that was correct - but it was also correct when I said it wouldn't make any difference; think why that might be.

You are also all correct in deducing that it is in the zones and it is not a huge distance from Epsom.

So the extra clues for now which should narrow it down considerably; it has a direct service to Epsom and if you follow me on Twitter you'll really kick yourselves because I tweeted this picture a couple of weeks ago... as I'm a heavy re-tweeter it's a very long way back now if you want to try scrolling through my timeline... though there is a short cut you could try if you know how Twitter works and if you're not on a mobile as you look... ;)

I'll be back online late night tonight as usual, so if you do find it through my Twitter please say that's how you found it. If you worked it out any other way, please say how. :)

I found it on your twitter and it confirmed my suspicions of the area. I won't say the answer as I don't have a picture to post.

But I can say that Motspur Park is incorrect.

Lewis, if someone gets it while I'm not online feel free to link to the tweet so that the winner can continue.

Very surprised nobody has it by now!

Motspur Park is the warmest so far by far, however.
