Does not ELL include the bit of the Southern ELL trains extend onto? In either case, I will go next for Hatch End.

It's not the Watford DC line either.

This hopefully leaves only one more line it could be.

I can think of more than one possible line left on BR. However, I will take the hint in your little clue and say Harringay Green Lanes.

Neither of those last two are very far off, but Wanstead is the closest we've had.

I should have had that much earlier  However, having only ever been on the platform at night, and not paid much attention to the surroundings, I think I can just about forgive myself.

Have fun with this one <D

I shall diligently work through the remaining 271 stations beginning with S.

Severn Tunnel Junction?

Closer.

Look at the layout of the platform (what little is visible) in relation to my position and the area beyond it. This isn't as hard as it could be.

Severn Tunnel Junction and Slough were far closer - to the point that one of the two is managed by the same TOC.

You are right in that this station is closer in terms of importance to London Bridge than it is to Cooksbridge.

This reduces the options somewhat.

Swindon.

Swindon would be correct. The signal in the picture can be found at the end of Platform 1; I was standing on Platform 2 when I took this picture.
