The clue was in the question. It is indeed the 'famous' clock from Brief Encounters which was filmed at Carnforth.

I suspect that this is a non-electrified Northern managed station which is not in West Yorkshire or on Merseyside. I shall go for Bryn, given the small running in board.

Sorry for the slow response.

Any particular reason as to why you believe that? Given the sign's position at the end of the problem it may well not be a station name; similarly, given the angle, the sign could be deceptively small. Obviously I won't comment at this stage, but what I will say is that Bryn is not correct.
