I would have had Colchester Town within two guesses if I hadn't been away for a few minutes. I knew it was that or Harwich Town (the latter of which I am yet to travel to, but I know its appearance is fairly similar from pictures I've seen of it).

So we are outside of NXEA territory now - and what do we find...?

Newton Abbot = X
Exeter St Davids = X
Cardiff Central = X
Cardiff Central = Hmm...

Good thing about night shots. It's harder to use the surrounding area for clues. But if the station is poorly served or located, the visibility is too low to make the shot usable...

Bristol Temple Meads?

Floor open if correct.

Incidentally I would have got the ETHEL in Marylebone depot picture in seconds - I have some pictures of 46229 there which actually show the very same pile of coal on the former platform!

I know you won't have seen this earlier Peter, but I suggested earlier that I am in no hurry - or need - to choose the same station a third time. Bristol TM is one of only two stations that I have used twice (Blackpool North being the other).

On the other hand, I seem to recall Track Basher saying he had done Clacton three times now?

Westbury is not joining the group (the "B" pair) of two-timers today.

Hang on, I think there's a centre road, and only one, which makes Temple Meads a good shout. Worcester SH also has one, but I think there is more space between the platforms. However, I'll say Worcester SH just in case.

Plymouth, Taunton and Worcester Shrub Hill would not be correct either.

Needless to say, you are all thinking of the correct TOC with regards to the 143.

I'm struggling to keep up here...! :lol:

So a list of guesses so far...

Newton Abbot = X
Exeter St Davids = X
Cardiff Central = X
Cardiff Central = X
Bristol Temple Meads = X
Westbury = X
Worcester Shrub Hill = X
Taunton = X
Plymouth = X
Gloucester = X
Worcester Shrub Hill = X

Eleven quickfire guesses, and nothing yet.

I notice your point Clag, but I have never known two stations to be guessed twice on my turn! :lol:

Totnes would not be correct either.

There is a second track in the picture, but I shall never disclose what its purpose is (i.e. whether it is a second track or is actually adjacent to the platform in the background). I love ones like this where the use of clues is not needed :D

Actually, on that point, I'll reveal the train's destination as a "clue"...

...Bristol TM :lol: (this does eliminate some Devon stations, but that's about it!)

I think it is time to abandon the one centre road theory (it may still hold but I have run out of ideas that fit with it). Taunton?

Oops, Taunton's already been wrong. Weston-super-Mud?

I'll say the blindingly obvious, and probably lose 10 QI points for it. Bath?

Only 10? What planet are you on? :lol:

Swindon is not correct either.

I must say I am very pleased with this picture: My housemate (who knows sod all about trains) identified this train as one that doesn't usually come to Bath without any help!!!!! Well, that and that it's lasted so long.
