Belgian class AM96, I think. They have the same front ends as the Danish IC3s but the bodyshells are those of the Belgian type I11 carriages, which is why it doesn't look right for an IC3.

Wikipedia gave me 'nowt. Pretty sure that isn't any JR livery. So it'll be a private company and I guess it'll be in a fairly rural area looking at the background and as this is only a 2 car train. Also the background looks like it could be somewhere in the north of Japan. Hmmmmm?

Ah you got me by covering up the JR logo! It's a 521 series with JR West. Now I see where you got the photo from too.

Japan actually seems to have some very interesting and nice looking trains.
Oh it does. I've been there twice and I love it. The rail system there is second to none in my opinion. I think Britain would have been like where Japan is now if the Beeching Act hadn't been implemented. Deregulation of the national operator has been sensible in that there are only 6 companies and they are kept on their toes by private companies operating on their own lines which provide genuine competition. So much variety. It seems difficult to me though to get into their railway scene as the Japanese keep themselves to themselves and most publications / websites dedicated to their railways are in their own language, which I can't translate (as yet anyway).
Anywhooo, here's my next offering. I'm asking about the train in the foreground of the picture. You can guess at the one in the background, but I'd have no idea whether it's correct or not.
