At a guess knowing what you've got, is it a VW Polo?

Yes, being lazy...

But it's a VW CWN Gearbox, fitted to the 1ltr Polos running 6N1 Drivetrain on the old style gear linkage without a remote housing (the throw for the engagement is much longer) where as mine was a later 6N1 with a remote housing, and some prat fitted this replacement gearbox and claimed it was correct... Was meant to be a DQW for an AEX on a 6N1 LAT4G...

To clear any ambiguity, it IS Temple_Meads' turn...
