Guard train in middle of carriage

I live in a house which was build from railway carriages . One of the carriages is numbered 2159 which was a SER 1897 carriage I have been told .

The other carriage has a birdcage and guards wagon - what I am trying to find out is what it's origin is :

the Guards carriage and birdcage is in the centre of the carriage rather than at one end - I think it is SER but am not sure .

Can anyone help ?????????
