I'm currently a primary teacher but would like to break into Asia and Australasia to teach. Before that though, I'd like to get some experience doing a variety of jobs in the UK so I have a multitude of skills with which to emigrate and work overseas.
I'm thinking of being a guard, either with East Coast, First Transpennine Express, Cross Country or Northern as I live within 40 minutes of Leeds and York, so I have access to a number of TOCs.
What sort of skill sets are these companies going to be looking for? I'm trying to work out the transferable skills I have as a teacher and how they'd work in a different environment. For instance I am able to communicate effectively with managers, other employees and parents as part of my day to day job, this is transferable to communication elsewhere, but not in a sales role for instance.
Any ideas?

I should probably mention a few vitals as well.
Not overweight - underweight with a BMI of 17.
23.75 years old.
Physical health isn't the best.
On a variety of medications - the ones that will cause problems could be stopped if I were to get a job on the railway.
5ft 4 - was looking into doing cabin crew work, but I've had a look into some of the restrictions and I know height was a factor for a lot of companies.
Anything else that needs to be known please don't hesitate to ask.
