Hi I have been a guard for a long time and I have recently been given a spot for a drivers assessment. now the company I work for fgw have not done a drivers school for years in fact not one has been run since they took us over.

the assessment is in newport (same place i did my guards one!) now i was wondering if anyone has any experience with FGW tests its been a long time since i did my guards test and that was with another company.

So i was wondering if anyone could share there experiences with me and give any advice many thx

The email

Hello,

Following your recent invite for assessment for Trainee Train Driver please
find attached the Trainee Train Driver practice test materials which will
help you prepare for the assessment.

I was wondering what this "opc" is also the package says these are the tests

a mechanical comprehension test; }

• a trainability test; }??? this one i am not sure about

• a test of concentration; }(done the dot test bf for my guards test , but do i need higher scores to pass for driver?)

• a reaction and co-ordination test; } the computer reaction (got my boppit!)

• a structured interview.

So to me this says fgw dont do a lot of the things other companys do or am i wrong

Looks like its a standard driving assesment for which there is plenty of useful information located in this forum section.

The pass mark on the dots test is the same whether you are going for a drivers position or guards position etc etc, however that is not to say the pass mark hasn't been changed since you last took the test so best to still practice.

Probably never again if faced with that choice. Only applied as me and a mate wanted the day off on the beer. Got out of a 10hr job lol. Had heart attack whilst in boozer when we got phone call telling us we'd passed!! Got out of a second crap shift for the interview too lol

Wrong. The pass mark for a drivers position is higher than that for a guards/conductors position.
