Guard assaulted on Train

Folks,
This was in Todays Scottish Sun.A male was found guilty at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Friday for punching a Train Guard whilst he was working collecting/checking tickets.

The male involved was within a group of other males who,on seeing the guard coming through to collect tickets simply went from carrige to carrige in attempt not to purchase a ticket.

The guard approached this yob and asked if he had a ticket.The yob,then in full view of other passengers subjected the guard to all sorts of abuse.This dafty,thought it would be a great idea to sort this issue out by punching the guard................one problem,the guard on observing that he was about to be assaulted,Headbutted this nutcase first resulting in him falling to the ground like a bag of spuds.

the guard thereafter contacted BTP,locked himself in the carrige as this mob were trying to get to him......................From what is wrote about this guard he is well respected and a damn decent guy.

The moral of the story dont be a smart arse to the guard,pay tour ticket like everyone else and you wont be drinking your dinner from a straw for a month

Lucky Guard. Some poor sod at LM got sacked and a conditional discharge for stepping in on an assault between two passengers and punching the assailant.

Good on my fellow guard, always good when the law is on our side, sadly kn*bhead like the yob are far too common and I am lucky I can talk myself out of most situations but if push came to shove I would have done the same as him..nice one colleague

A TRAIN guard headbutted a thug passenger who attacked him on a busy train.
Yob William McMillan hurled abuse at Jim McAllister, 54, when he asked him for a ticket, then chased him into another carriage.
But the 23-year-old was knocked to the ground when McAllister headbutted him in front of stunned travellers on the Larkhall to Hamilton train.

One witness said: "The guard asked a group of guys for tickets but got dog's abuse. One of the guys chased him and was right in his face shouting. Then he lashed forward with his head. The guard thought he was going to get hit and headbutted the guy in the mouth."
Shaken McAllister locked himself in the empty cab at the back of the train and called police - as raging McMillan tried to get to him.
Fiscal depute Lisa Lann told Hamilton Sheriff Court yesterday: "The accused was banging on the door. The train arrived at Hamilton and he began to kick at the cab window, shouting 'I'm going to kill you'."
Bricklayer McMillan, of Airdrie, was arrested near the station. He admitted Wednesday afternoon's rampage and was caged for six months. Grandad McAllister refused to comment.
But a family friend said: "Jim was really shaken. He had to defend himself."
A spokesman for First ScotRail said: "We do not tolerate the abuse of staff."

maybe that thug will think again before abusing staff. Good on the guard for headbutting him, if he had also been arrested by police i think there would have been some problems with the other passengers on the train who would be supporting the guard and probably from other members of staff and the unions

It makes a refreshing change to hear that the police didn't arrest the guard as well or that he hasn't lost his job in these loony times.

Just clear something up. It WASN'T a Guard. It was a TE on a DOO service somewhere in the west of Scotland around Glasgow.

Still good result for the TE.
