In a tiny minority of cases it can be, just as with the other diseases mentioned upthread. What seems to be forgotten in all the hysteria is that a high % of those who contract Covid have symptoms no worse than a cold, or even no symptoms at all.



But we are talking here about employers making negative test results a requirement in order to enter workplaces. Do you honestly not believe that is an invasion of privacy?

The fact that is now apparently considered normal and acceptable by a % of the population is deeply shocking and makes me worry for the future.

It's a fairly mild respiratory illness.

What right do you have to the medical information of another individual. Why does your delusional, media driven fear justify breaking the principle of doctor-patient confidentiality?

What I have found jarring about the past year to 18 months is the pandering to fear of covid. It taints everything; while I don't want to be the one that spoils it I equally do not wish to be reduced to worrying about other people especially when they are generally over-reacting.

The trouble is that there are two significant groups of people who, although not (directly) affected by it themselves, either sense an opportunity for gain or who want to be seen as a hero. The second group is perhaps the most dangerous, as once they believe that they are "saving lives" (when the reality is that they are saving very few out of a large group) then that is where the trouble can really start. That is before political opportunists come into play.

I do hope no pressure was put on staff to submit to a test. Personally I’d rather go about my working day without medical prodding and poking.

Most railway operational staff had to undergo medical prodding and poking as part of the recruitment process. To check they weren't going to have a heart attack driving a train. That they could hear a train coming when working trackside. And that they could adequately distinguish signals

I don't think, somehow, that it involved sticking swabs deep into the nose and mouth.

The thing that surprises me is how some people are so keen to down play down the impact of Covid 19 and belittle the 'fear' of it, yet find the experience of taking a Covid test so utterly awful and are so keen to express it.
