Why does it use Thameslink liveried 377's?

Because SE rents out 6x 377s daily for its own services, been happening since March 2009. The units are swapped over in Bellingham Sidings on day one of the hire cycle in the afternoon and on day four of the cycle, are given back to GTR Bellingham Sidings as GTR does all the maintenance.

Long term there some changes coming. For example the current peak Maidstone East to Blackfriars service will become GTRs January 2018 and will be 8 car 700s going through Central Core with the Orpington to Thameslink service cut back to Blackfriars (and be SE only).
