Thameslink's twitter has managed to annoy Poundland. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to upload the image containing the text. It just gets worse for them.

Edit:
Dear Mr Horton,

We couldn't help notice that your Twitter team described your failure to provide an adequate service as "Poundland" cooking chocolate.

Aside from the breach of our trademark, we think you're taking the chocolate biscuit.

In the past week, on the introduction of the new timetable your rail company has

1. Cancelled hundreds of services,
2. Blamed a dog on the line for delays and
3. Secretly cancelled services rather than have to announce they're cancelled.

Frankly you have no right to use our name to describe poor service...but if we ever fall short, perhaps we'll describe ourselves as a bit Thameslink.

If you don't want to hear from our extremely twitchy legal team, we suggest you remove your tweet.

It's a bit clearer why that response was given now I've seen the question asked - thanks Daily Mail for actually showing that unlike everyone else!

Poundland's response is understandable but also completely predictable - their twitter account famously thrives on deliberate controversy.

Yes, it was probably a bit of a misjudged reply, but in defence of GTR their tweeters are always remarkably polite in the face of some quite awful abuse, and "a poundland blah" is already in the popular vernacular as a poor imitation (rightly or wrongly, I think their shops are fine)

I'm not a GTR or Thameslink apologist by any means, I just fear this poor soul will be scapegoated for being, well, human.

A rail firm that compared its poor service to chocolate from Poundland has been threatened with legal action by the discount chain.

Thameslink has apologised after making the comment in reply to a passenger who was angry over train cancellations.

In response, Poundland retail director Austin Cooke said it had "no right to use our name to describe poor service".

Thameslink had responded to a tweet from a passenger, called Kevin, who posted a picture of a departure board showing train cancellations.....
Well done Poundland (don't say that often) for the brilliant response.

All going wrong for Thameslink at the moment...

TOC Twitter accounts cannot and will not win on social media thanks to the unique nature of running a train business. They should cut the sass.

Glad Poundland went viral with their response. Have that.

Isn’t it a little inappropriate for a corporate twitter account to make comments like:

No jokes about about the 'National Rail' system at all, but more my love for chocolate including cheap chocolate.

It’s written in the first person, but by whom?! VTEC the corporate entity likes cheap chocolate, does it?! It reads like it’s been written by an individual posting on Facebook or similar.

Not particularly professional of them, I must say. Or maybe I’m just getting old.
