Hello everyone,

I applied 5 times for various GTR positions but were unsuccessful at different stages (once almost got a job, had a good final interview with the station manager but they have chosen somebody else for the role) and now I'm trying for the 6th time. This time for Trainee Train Planner.

Can anyone provide me some insights into what to expect from that on-line assessment? If it is similar to the one for conductor position then I guess I would be fine but maybe it's different?

By the way, it's quite demotivating to not be successful 5 times, but I'll keep trying... My friend told me to keep trying until finally they will accept me.

What exactly are you looking to achieve? Do you just want to work in the railway industry or is there something specific which you want to do?

Firstly I would like to work in the railway industry, so any position would be OK for me for a start and then I would be looking for some better paid position at the railway industry. At first I wanted to become train driver but I was unsuccessful on one of the on-line recruitments processes and then realized it is very difficult to get that job (vacancy was for trainee train driver).

Railway industry is interesting for me, I also have a bachelor degree in business and management so if I would be accepted for an office based role I could my knowledge learned there. If I would be accepted for let's say conductor then I could use my experience from retail and customer service jobs. So I'm opened and not picky.

I've done online assessments already, maths were the same as on previous tests so no problems there. But data entry task was tough. I'm quick typer but I managed only half of the task.
