Hey,

I've applied for the trainee train planner role at KGX with GTR and was wondering if this role is deemed as safety critical and how I'd fair within the medical due to my eyesight. If anyone knew the medical requirements I'd be grateful.

its not a safety critical role. It depends how bad your eyesight is?
Unless its changed in the last 12 months its mostly going through your form, Alcohol/Drugs test, Blood Pressure, possibly Blood Sugar fingerprick test, Height/Weight etc.

Nothing to worry about if you are reasonably fit

If you simply wear glasses or contact lenses to correct your vision, then other things being equal you should have no problem.

All I'd say is that train planning involves an awful lot of computer work. If looking at a screen for a while puts a strain on your eyes it may not be a suitable job, but good luck nevertheless.

When I had my medical (similar role but for a different TOC), the only things they were concerned about was the D&A screening, alongside if I'd ticked yes to any of the questions on the pre-screening form. I wear glasses with a reasonable prescription, but this didn't have the slightest impact.
