Hmmm it was a risk I took but don't think it would if other tocs don't do the dfft but I'm happy to be corrected.

It would only affect tocs that use it , it's not part of the standard tests. If say for example GWR needed it , then you would of done it if you think about it.

Anyone still waiting for an assessment day with southern and thameslink, not heard anything since the August ‘monthly’ email, and then seen the GTR advert for courses STARTING in January?

Bit disheartening. (I applied December 2020)

Also applied December 2020. Nothing since August update saying they 'hope' to have invited everyone to an assessment centre by the end of the year.

GTR admit they want 50% of courses to be female recruits and then wonder why there’s such animosity from the internal male applicants!

Unless you put down, that you identify as a female. You application will not even been looked at.

Hi everyone, found out I passed the mini scaat today, wanted to know roughly how long it takes for the assessment centre n everything else to be done by? I’ve been offered a job that’s near a train driver salary in london but don’t start until January but I’d rather take the train driver job if I get it but wanted to know if it would all be done before start of December? (When I was going to resign from current role with GTR). I’m a BAME female.

I’d be surprised if you’d be on a course this year if you haven’t sat the assessments yet. If you’re with GTR and resign your application will be terminated for Trainee Driver.

No chance of getting on a course anytime soon if you’ve not done assessment centre/mmi/dmi/medical yet.

And as the other poster said you’re application will be canned if you resign from GTR.

So if you want to be a driver you’ll have to turn down the other job, with no guarantee you’ll pass the assessment/MMI/DMI. And then if you do pass, you’ve got the possibility of sitting in a talent pool.

I didn’t know that if I resign from GTR my application will be terminated?? Didn’t think it would make a difference as it wasn’t an internal role? My current role in GTR is nothing to do with train driving. If that is the case of being in a pool then I would take the other job. Also I did the tests in 2019 for another TOC, I passed 4 out of 5 so I’m not sure where I stand..apparently I passed to national standard but not enhanced which was what the previous toc was looking for but with GTR I don’t know what difference that will make.

You work for GTR and applied for a driver job at GTR. So you'll be going through the internal application process. If you leave GTR then you’ll be no longer be an internal applicant so your application will be canned.

You’ve still got the DMI and MMI to go, even if you pass that last test. I can’t remember what test standards GTR require either. I’m sure they’re posted somewhere on this forum.

If you hold a permanent position within GTR you’ve an internal application and if you leave then your application would be terminated. If you’re agency them you could take the other job and keep the trainee driver application going.

I really didn’t know that at all, thanks, I’m not agency so I would just have to make a choice
