It might not be just same tests on higher score. There are other, non national tests that some tocs use that make it “enhanced”.

It can be. I know people that passed to a national standard on the group bourdon and not enhanced. Some toc's use additional test's , such as the dfft , visual search and magnificent seven sjt.

Thank you for your reply. So if a driver were to start at Barnham, then finish after midnight (or whenever the last train is) at a different station, how do they get back to Barnham? Or do you always start and finish at the same station when starting your shift early or finishing late?

Yes, you could take a train to Littlehampton or Bognor where it gets stabled until the morning. As part of your diagram (day's work schedule) you'd be booked a taxi from there back to Barnham, and you'd finish your day's work at Barnham.

I thought depot like Barnham had huge internal waiting lists normally
I know a driver who commuted from near Chichester to Norwood Junction before his move happened

I believe Thameslink require enhanced and the person you quoted said that they passed to standard. They may well have to redo them , if Thameslink want a higher pass.

Barnham used to be three depots - Littlehampton West Worthing and Bognor. Maybe they will return one day.

You got it. Different toc's have different standards. It's on the OPC website too , someone posted it somewhere.

I done an assessment day for MTR (Crossrail) three years ago.

Got a certificate in June 2017 saying I passed trainability for rules and procedures TRP1 & TRP2 at enhanced level & passed group bourdon test at national level but not enhanced.

Does this certificate do anything for me in this process?

I just applied for Thameslink , all the links take you to the same website so presume you only have to apply once, there's nowhere to state your preference?

They do take you to the same page, where you take the same steps, but now, on my profile it shows that I applied for all three of them, with different code for each TOC, so it might be worth it to apply for all of them just so you don't miss out.

I think you'll be fine on that one. Most people I know have been waiting years. I myself applied 2 years ago and have been in the pool for almost a year now.

Some 160 trainees being recruited across GTR and now advertised on Facebook competition will be immense

If you put a good application together and do your home work who cares how many people apply you will do well.

Wasn't the case for quite a few of the southern guys a couple of years back.
They just came across.

They did not just come across TL needed them and offered them a limited amount of spaces for a certain amount of drivers with the exception of Horsham where they just took 21 drivers out of the Souther drivers depot at Horsham and they had no choice.

They did come across without interview though I forgot that. When it suits the company eh. A few drivers from southern came over as commissioning drivers too one from Barnham. Think they had a choice to stay with southern or go to TL after the contract ended.
The process sounded arbitrary with pqa drivers jumping senior men. Three came to Horsham two from Barnham and one from Victoria. Horsham TL is a cracking depot probably the best on Thameslink. Not biased at all.

I agree totally Horsham TL is a goid depot for sure.

I have passed all assessments and MMI for another TOC under the same umbrella as GTR (GoAhead&Keolis). Does anyone know if I will have to sit any other assessments ? I sat the enhanced for the other TOC so am hopeful I may be able to progress without having to resit. I am only awaiting a DMI for the other TOC but passed by assessments in July and still waiting. Any info would be appreciated and good luck to all those applying !

Unfortunately they won’t accept it now, I’m internal and they have done this with me around a year ago too for a different post let alone driver (I’ve heard on the grapevine the volume of applications they got with this one and it’s a very scary number). Cv alone also won’t cut it as they require the application questions to be filled in
