Hi everyone, I've read through a fair few other GTR prosecution threads and have written up a draft to reply to them, was just wondering if anyone would change anything before i send it. Thanks!

Dear Govia Thameslink Railway,

I am writing in regard to the case *

On the 3rd of June I travelled on a short ticket not valid for my journey, there is no excuse for this and I would like to apologise. I now understand the impact my actions and fare dodging have on the railway industry.

I am deeply regretful of my actions and will ensure this doesn’t happen again. Going forward, I will make sure that I always pay the correct fare on any Thameslink or other service.

I would be grateful for the opportunity to resolve this without court action; I am willing to pay for any costs incurred by this matter, including your administrative costs and any outstanding fare.

Once again I would like to apologise, and I await your response regarding further action.
.
Yours sincerely,

Hi.

Have you already had a letter from GTR or are you getting ready before you receive one please? If you've had a letter, it's always helpful for the experts to see what they've said, so please post an anonymised copy to this thread.

I'm out of the country so dealing with it online with them, I've been told to send in my appeal via email rather than once I get the letter.

Right, thank you. So maybe we could see their email when it arrives?

If you don't have it yet, you could tell us what happened on the day you were stopped, if that's what happened.

It's my turn to reply, they've just told me to send my appeal/anything I wish the person dealing with my case to know.

I got stopped leaving the station as they were checking all barcode (trainline) tickets. I had a short ticket not valid for my journey that I bought as I got off the train so once it was scanned it was obvious I was short ticketing. Admitted I didn't come from the station on the short ticket, gave my details and left.

So if they went back over your ticket purchasing record, would GTR find any other instances of you short faring? This could affect how you reply to them.

Without knowing the full details of your case, GTR will normally offer an out of court settlement if you co-operate with them and haven't come to their attention before. I think your letter is fine and should get you a favourable result.

Be aware that GTR might research your online ticket purchasing account and might want to include other journeys in the settlement cost, or contact you about these at a later date.

Thanks, do you think I should change unpaid fare to unpaid fare(s)? Or it doesn't really matter
