GTR Intention To Prosecute Letter

Travelled from Hampden Park to Eastbourne (a 5 minute ride) and bought my ticket at the end of my journey instead of before my journey. Rail enforcement officers at the gates at Eastbourne Station and they scanned my ticket and saw that I bought it in the last few minutes. I am completely in the wrong obviously and gave my details saying I just bought the ticket. Had a look around here and will respond to them very soon hoping for a reasonable fine and have learnt that I should always be buying my tickets before my journey no matter the case as they state.

Welcome to the forum,

We see letters like these all the time; provided you cooperate you are unlikely to be prosecuted. In your reply you will need to say that
  • You understand why what you did was wrong and take responsibility for it
  • You will always ensure to purchase a valid ticket before boarding in future
  • That you hope they are willing to settle the matter without court action, and are willing to pay the outstanding fare and any admin fees incurred by GTR
Post your draft on here so forum members can make suggestions.
See countless other threads of GTR notice of intention to prosecute to see example letters. Let us know if you're struggling to find suitable threads and I can find you some links in the morning.
Do let us know if you have any further questions.
