I start training next month with GN

Just curious how their training programme works. I am sure all will be explained at the induction. Just wanted to get some idea of timings.

But if anybody has gone through it, what happens after the 2 induction days ?

I'm assuming it's kings cross the next week for classroom training ? Is that 9-5 in class? Does it start earlier/finish later ? How many weeks does that normally go on for ?

I've just finished week 4, I'm on the old style course so this may not apply to you as I know they have a new way of carrying out the training and I'm not sure how that works. You will do the general induction stuff then go onto PTS which for my course was 2 days training then on the third day you have the PTS exam. After that usually its rules in the class room but we got sent out for 2 weeks observing drivers and filling out a task book as the training school was busy. All really positive so far, looking forward to getting on with rules now.

We were generally 9am-3pm as you then need to go home and study what you've learnt in the day for PTS and I presume rules will be similar.

Cheers for the info.

So will I need to keep Saturdays/Sundays free ?

Is there any resources I can start looking at so I can get a headstart on learning the PTS material ?

No you don't have to look at anything as it's all given to you those 2 days, as long as you spend some time going thorough it in the evening you will be fine. All our group passed without issues.

From what I've see and done so far you get weekends off during the first 6 months of input but I'm not totally certain of that yet. So far it's been that way. All the trainers are really positive and I've really enjoyed it so far, any other question don't hesitate to ask mate.

Thank you Pilotman

Always like to be as prepared as I can be for any training. Even better when the material is free.
