GTR Class 700 Aircon - switched off?

yes it's warm and lovely weather so why then do GTR seemingly switch off the aircon on all 700 units?

I have travelled in many cities including Singapore and HK where they manage to cool their trains without a problem.

How does the aircon work in the 700 unit, it it gas based as used in cars or something more sophisticated?

Else what else would cause the cooling to be non-existent?

In my experience it's famine or feast - it's certainly not turned off on all units, sometimes they are over-chilled.

Following TL's Twitter feed I see regular complaints of trains either being far too hot or too cold. There's obviously an issue with at least some of the 700s in this respect.
