... is on it's way to me! Play dispatched my copy yesterday, I'm hoping it'll be here Monday, if not Tuesday. But I won't be happy if it turns up Wednesday .... <(
Is anyone else getting it on release date? Anyone planning to go to a shop on Tuesday might be disappointed, not many shops are having any extra copies, only pre-orders.

Is there anyone that doesn't like GTA? If so, why? :?

Gosh :( We couldn't get a pre-order copy anywhere that would arrive on the release date.
Hopefully gonna try and get it from a random shop.

I take it you're getting it on PS3?

I'm not getting it. I love GTA, and San Andreas was possibly the most important game ever made for the PS2, given the vast amount of detail over such a large area. But I refuse to buy a game that forces me to buy a 3G console to play. I don't play games often enough any more to warrant that purchase.

Nope, Xbox 360. :p
I preordered mine on the 14th April and luckily managed to get one of the last preorders from Play, they and Amazon are now quoting 1st May delivery.
I really cannot wait for this, been looking forward to this installment for what seems like aaaaggggeesss! Oh wait, it's true, damn you PS3 with your Blu Ray!

I love GTA:sA too.

I'm not into all these new consoles either. The PS2 is probably the newest console I've got, and it does me fine. Although, HD on a PS3 looks amazing, and the Wii is also amazing fun.
I get to play them regularly, which keeps me happy. Though I wouldn't get the consoles myself.

Oh, and XBOX suck!

I must admit I've had Sony and Nintendo products in the past (PSX, PS2, PSP, Gameboy, DS Lite) but now, when it came to the decision between 360 or PS3, I went for the 360 as there were more games that I wanted to play on it (Gears, TDU, Forza to name but three) and also all my mates have a 360, and Xbox Live is AMAZING!

you know I had the same impression as u on xbox gizzy, then i eventually thought sod it, all my mates have one, and fair play its a fantastic console. And from someone who said they'd never buy a 360 and would wait for the ps3... tbh i'm glad I saw the light

Well said Alun!
At work there's 6 of us that have 360s and one lonely person with their PS3.
Keeps having problems and delayed releases, wonder why? ;) *Hint* - Blu Ray!

Hmm, there's just so many buttons on that damn XBOX controller!

Plus I'm not really into the type of game that the XBOX seems to focus on. Gears of War, Halo type games just aren't my thing.

Hmm, there's just so many buttons on that damn XBOX controller.
Which is a good thing, especially for racing games. Take Test Drive Unlimited for example:
The two triggers are Accelerate/Brake,
Y and A are Up/Down Gears (Manual only),
A is to flash you headlights,
X is handbrake,
Left Bumper is to look backwards, Right Bumper is to change the view,
Left Analog Stick is steering, Right Analog Stick is for looking left and right,
Up on the D-Pad is open/close the car's windows,
Down is for changing the zoom level on the GPS map,
Left is for the radio/traction control/other auxilliary menus
Right is for the map

Total of 12 buttons, pretty much the same as a PS2/3 controller. Doesn't the PS3 controller have 2 extra trigger buttons (L3 and R3)?

Yeah. Why would you need to flash headlights? :p

PS3:
Up, Down, Left, Right, Cross, Triangle, Square, Circle, R1, R2, R3, L1, L2, L3, Start, Select, PS3 Home button thing.

...I stand corrected.

To signal to other drivers that you want to race them Giz. TDU is a kick ass game, although I just play it on the PC which was buggy as hell to start of with but now runs sweet.

Uh beat me to it!

I don't really get on with consoles, both My PS1 & PS2 ended up as expensive doorstops. Although I like My PSP for work (Not whilst driving of course, but ideal when travelling pass or on rest breaks or spare turns.

I did try it on the PC, but the graphics were glitchy, and it wasn't exactly the best game dynamically.
It's amazing on the 360 mind you, well worth the £200 a 360 now costs. <(

That's cos the original Xbox was a 700mhx Celeron box running Linux ......
Whilst the PS2 was a proper console, the grapic were amazing, especially Gran Turismo 4!

Am I alone in thinking that the GTA3 style graphics were better when compared to those in Vice City and in a way San Andreas in terms of realism? I always thought that the latter two seemed more cartoony (although San Andreas did have some nice little touches such as the thick grassy areas etc.).

I thought that GTA3 was definately a better game than GTAVC.

I disagree about the graphics though. GTA3 was always a little blocky and such. It wasn't as bright though, and this gave it a little more of a realistic touch I think...
GTAVC and SA were both very bright... I don't think it looks cartoony at all though.

GTAIV has been made not to look cartoony as it is only going to be released on the PS3/360, Rockstar have confirmed there will not be a PC version either. This seems a bit silly as surely there are people that like GTA but don't have a console?

Definately. I know someone who just completed GTASA on PC with no controller or anything! I'm still on the desert missions on the PS2! :(

SA is very difficult; for one thing you can't use cheats until one mission that I haven't reached yet or it mucks your game up. Still, you can't get 100% with cheats!

The last mission I can remember doing was the casino robbery one, but I don't think I completed the desert properly.

Yep, that would be Me for one! Shame they are that narrow minded, but guess what, they don't get My ££ ever again. Not really fussed TBH, got plenty of stuff still on the PC. That's the difference with PC games, if I had a game on a console I would finish it once, maybe twice...sometimes 3 times if it was really good but that's it. A good PC title like MSTS, RS, Operation Flashpoint, ARMA etc is a game for years.
For example Operation Flashpoint was released in 2001 & I still play it loads now combined with thousands of addons only for the PC. Thats good value for £30 odd. I find PS3 title's like IKEA/class 66's. Great right now but dont last at all.

Consoles have there place, usually holding a door open or when you are too ****ed to start a PC.<D

Well, as an owner of Wii, PSP, DS, 360 AND PS3 it makes no odds to me which I get it for. On the question of the other formats getting their hands on it, I think it is a matter of time. It is a question of games manufacturers getting you to buy a 3G console. Thus, when they think everyone who is going to buy it on these platforms has done, they will release it on other formats. Its what they have done before, not just with GTA but others too.

TBH though, I only got the PS3 because it was going cheap and it is the only console with an F1 game, cos the rights to F1 games are owned by Sony, grrrrrr. Not being online though, patches for PS3 are hard to come by. I have got a copy for 360 and PS3 preordered but I think I'll get the PS3 version, because there is an outside chance I may get my 360 chipped.

I have played most if not all GTA games. Right through from the first GTA top down view and GTA London right through to GTA SA.

All my mates are saying there gunna get it on their PS3s and Xbox 360s but I refuse to get either. Why? Because my PC can play all the games on both and pretty much matches up to the specs of both.

For someone reason my mates all seem to think if you don't play a game that's on a console but on a PC, it must be worse. But IMO FPS are best played with mouse and Keyboard. So if I do decide to get this game, it will be on PC.
