Can a group-save discount be applied to zone 1-2 travelcards? Specifically a group of six adults and three eligible children.

I know it applies to travelcards with a train journey (unless barred dates etc), but I'm not sure about tube only.

Thanks :D

There is no groupsave on in-boundary travelcards.

The cheapest eligible ticket is the Epsom - London Southern Only Travelcard, which has the same validity within the zones as a Zone 1-6 Travelcard.

Unless said group needs to travel on National Rail services[1] they may be better off purchasing a TfL Group Day ticket. This is for a minimum of 10, however TfL's policy is that provided all 10 tickets can be presented at once, travel is still permitted. Underground staff have previously received updates to this effect. For Zone 1-6 this is priced £4.50 for those aged over 18 or £1.70 for those under.

These tickets can be purchased from London Underground and certain National Rail booking offices. Where issued by NR they must be printed on special stock RSP 7599/242.

I haven't done the maths, but this may work out cheaper.

[1] Although saying that, a limited number are allowed (see link)

For future reference, Marylebone is one of the NR stations that can issue them, and I'd hazard a guess that Barking, Upminster, Finsbury Park, Richmond and Wimbledon can too.
