is the GroupSave offer valid for boundary zone tickets?

Yes it is, AFAIK. But if you have a 7-day or longer Travelcard, or a Freedom Pass (when valid), then you can buy the ticket from the boundary station rather than the boundary zone if you have any problems with the latter, as then you are combining a season ticket with a daily ticket and Condition 19(c) would apply.

Thank you for your help. We all (4 persons) hold 7-day Travelcards (zones 1-2) on Oyster and we're looking for Boundary Zone 2 tickets to various places in the South East.

So if I got that correctly, a 7-day TC + BZ2-Cambridge ticket is not valid on the non-stop King's Cross to Cambridge service? Do we need 7-day TC + Finsbury Park-Cambridge to use this service? (The price seems to be the same, anyway).

With a season Travelcard, you may use either a Boundary Zone ticket (using NRCoC Condition 19b) or a ticket from a named station (19c).

With a Day Travelcard, you can only use the Boundary Zone ticket if you wish to use a train which doesn't stop at the "boundary" station.

In this case there's no disadvantage to using Finsbury Park as all trains go through it; it's more complex in South London where trains could use a variety of routes (though here it can be cheaper to buy from named stations).

Even if GroupSave discount indeed does apply to boundary zone tickets, the savings are about 50p as compared to 'normal' London-to-destination (super-)off-peak day returns so I highly doubt it's worth the hassle.

A Boundary Zone ticket to/from Cambridge gives more flexibility compared to a ticket from a named station.

The BZ ticket allows travel via the West Anglia route into Liverpool Street as well as the th route into Kings Cross.

That's correct, but so does an off-peak return route any permitted, right?

Ah yes, of course. Anyway, we have decided to buy regular London-Cambridge tickets, as they can be bought online. Combining travelcards and paper tickets translates to having to buy them from a ticket office and fiddling around with multiple pieces of card/paper - it just isn't worth it for a 65p saving, in my opinion!

A 'regular' ticket also avoids the potential for any misunderstanding on the part of FCC RPI's about validity...
