Group ticket

Three adults buy a group return ticket travelling with one child, who has her own ticket. If on the return, one of the adults decides not to travel, can the child take the place of the adult to maintain the validity of the group ticket. (I realise a F&F railcard would probably have been more appropriate)

The railcard has two named adults, but at least one of them MUST travel
This then allows single parents to use the railcard, the other named person can then be any relative or friend

tivoli, yes, a child can take the place of an adult, just not visa-versa.

Basically the question is 'Is there a minimum age for an adult ticket?' the answer is 'No. anyone can use an adult ticket' as far as I can determine. In some cases this may attract suspicion but it is valid.

Just be careful - TICKETS ARE NOT TRANSFERABLE - it may / may not arouse some suspicion because if you have transfered a ticket it is illegal.

So in theory the whole group would have to buy a new ticket (apart from the child).

Meh, don't worry about that, no-one in their right minds would raise that as theres no way to prove who the initial ticket was purchased for anyway.

In the original situation, 3 adults + 1 child, isn't Groupsave 4 available anyway?

(Assuming your TOC does the normal groupsave scheme of course.)
