Hi All,

Apologies if this question has been asked a few times before but haven't been able to find a straight answer.

I recently spoke with a colleague who's son has completed the Stage 1 tests with a TOC recently.
He mentioned to me that the objective of the group Bourdon test on the day was to find groups of 3 dots.

Is this actually possible or could he be mistaken?

Sorry, just to reiterate, I am aware it is 4 dots on the practise tool.

My question is whether this may change on the actual day of assessment.

It’s to find groups of 4. As far as I can remember there are groupings of 2,3 & 4 on the paper. No 5s like the software has.

I see, my understanding was that the assessors would want to throw off any person that has been practising a particular way.

Definitely was 5’s on the test. I distinctly remember, because it was 5’s that caught me out.... twice lol!! Instantly realised and corrected my mistake though!!

Seconded. There are groups of 5 on there too. You'll always be asked to find the groups of 4.

I know, another person I know also said the same thing. I have a feeling my colleague made a mistake. Thank you all

Hope he didn't mark groups of 3, he may find he hasn't done as well as one would like! ;)

But the assessments are not run by the TOCs they’re run by the OPC aren’t they..?

Yes, exactly what I was informed. But I received conflicting information about the tests when I compare the experiences from this forum.

For example, on the TEA-Occ, a lot of members state to look for double symbols. Yet when I speak to people taking the tests with my TOC, they say double symbols and area code etc.

I think mine was 4 dots , can’t really remember, like all the tests the practice material will help you prepare but it’s down to whether you can naturally do the tests or not.
