Just come back from the States where I traveled from Indianapolis to Chicago by Greyhound. Managed to pre book 2 tickets for 17 $ each a month before travel. The price rises quite steeply as the date of travel becomes nearer.
The Greyhound Bus Station was close to the NFL stadium in Indianapolis. Not a part of town that you would normally frequent. The staff were quite helpful and inside the terminus you could see it was functional but clean.
The coach arrived on time and made just one further stop before reaching Chicago just on the limits of downtown. Leather seats and free WiFi was available and I was on one of the express coaches. It took in all 3.5 hours and was quite a cheap option. Speaking to Americans, they could not believe I took Greyhound but the final part of the journey was by taxi from the station to my hotel.
It was interesting seeing a coach pull into Indianapolis on its way to Los Angeles. What a journey! Its obvious that Greyhound is cheap and cheerful but i enjoyed the experience. Book before you go to get cheap fares though.
