At Huddersfield there was a little newsagents/cafe on the platform selling tea and coffee for well under £2 not so long ago. Judging by the staff has it been taken over (?), the prices appear to have increased a lot recently? Certainly avoid it now.

Why on earth would you want to fill yourself up with something from Greggs when in a couple of hours you will be in France or even Belgium, where you can find some quite good food.
Somewhat fair but a cheap sausage roll isn't exactly going to satiate you for that long.

I had to laugh earlier at Nottingham when I saw the Cafe Local (SSP?) were advertising a regular meal deal for a mere £6,49!
Cafe Locals are ex-Pumpkins I think, so SSP.

The French eat a lot of horse meat, I dont know if its an urban myth, but the reason the British dont eat horse meat is because of the royal family and its connection to horse racing.

Greggs- I fell out with them when they stopped doing the meat and potato pasty.

Not wanting to take the thread off topic I will be brief. The French still eat horse meat and you can buy it in supermarkets, but the numbers who do so more than very occasionally are well down into single-figure percentages. As you correctly say, there is a relationship to horses being connected with the (once) admired royalty and nobility, but the French did something about that in 1789. The horse then became a much more mundane object that provided cheap, easily available and nutritious food. What’s not to like, unless you are a farm horse looking forward to a pleasant retirement.
