This is probably a bit unusual. My wife and I are off on a cruise, and the first port of call is Greenock. We are planning to head into Glasgow by train from Greenock. I've looked up times and fares - it's just a question of how reliable ScotRail generally are on a Sunday, as obviously we need to be back on the ship in good time before it heads off to Iceland. We do have options of coaches arranged by the Cruise Line, but they are triple the price of the train fare.

Generally very reliable, there were major issues on Saturday due to a person hit by a train.

Trains to Glasgow at xx.58 are faster, taking 32 minutes.

From Glasgow Central fast trains are at xx.55

Super Off Peak Return is £7.30 per person, not available online due to ScotRail machinations :D

You don’t say when, but it’s a brisk 15-20m walk from the Ocean Tetminal to Greenock Station. Sunday service are pretty reliable and I’ve not heard of any engineering works but naturally there are less trains into Glasgow than during the week.

It may well have changed in the last couple of years, but when we stopped off there on a cruise after Covid there was a fair old queue (probably 20+ minutes) for the ticket office and a similar (but not so long) one for the ticket machine on the Glasgow-bound platform. Will obviously depend on quite when you get off the boat but just something to note if you did need the ticket office.

Thanks all - I'll get the tickets before we travel to avoid any queues at ticket machines/offices.
