Not a full service. 2 Chester trains per hour will stop there along with 2 Ellesmere port trains giving 4 per hour. 2 Chester trains will continue to go straight through.

That will just be confusing for the drivers as they need to remember if they call at Green Lane when on a Chester service, as well as Capenhurst & that other station which had Chester trains removed for 'time keeping'

I hadn't realised that from the article.

One of the benefits of much maligned Green Lane is that it is the closest park and ride (and free, obv.) to Liverpool on the Wirral side.

Green Lane is a very old station which is close to Cammell Lairds and other riverside factoties in Birkenhead.
It was also a favourite with train spotters as opposite the main entrance was a gate to Birkenhead Mollington Street (6C) from where it was easy to bunk the depot especially on a Sunday in the early 60s.

A problem that drivers face everywhere; easily overcome but not without the occasional failure to call! Stations with highly irregular stopping patterns are the most commonly missed - Kirkstall Forge is a prime example.
