Unfortunately the programme to install PIS "Smart Columns" at local stations has been slightly delayed (due to be completed by the end of the year). I've only got hard copies of the designs and can't find any online, but they're rather different from the usual!

In other news...
...any users of Filton Abbey Wood station will be aware of the appalling condition of the station footbridge which has lead to a number of accidents both this winter and last.

I've been informed by Linda Swainger (Bristol Parkway - Acting Station Manager) that this is due to be resurfaced shortly by FGW and she is awaiting a firm date from FGW's property department.

In what way are the PIS different? I was passing through yesterday and was wondering when they would be installed, so thanks for the update.

Do you know why there is a big gap (90 min - 2 hr if I recall correctly) from 5.15pm without a service departing temple meads on the severn beach line? Is it a safety reason as trains leaving in the rush hour would be too busy? I know its only 1 track in part, but their can't be that many coming the other way can there? I know of people who live in clifton and travel back from work in Bath and can't get a connecting train to clifton.

They will contain TV screens with realtime train information, and have two buttons connected to a control centre somewhere (one for information and one for emergencies). Effectively this is just amalgamation of what is seen at many other stations - info. screens and wall-mounted help points.

In the present timetable there is a 17.16, an 18.04 and a 19.33. In the new timetable what used to be the 18.46 to Parkway will become the 18.48 to Avonmouth.

Is this all part of the planned investment for the Severn Beach line (and Patchway station).

Personally, I'd like more Pilning services (despite it being in the middle of no-where)! Apparently it formed another link to the severn beach line years ago.

Yep, the money is through the Access for All DfT funding although the Patchway application was separate and came through the West of England rather than City of Bristol.

Transport for Greater Bristol Alliance are looking at strategies for all local rail stations in Greater Bristol and are taking forward the Park and Ride strategy & business case I did a few years back. It's a bit out of date now and I've changed my mind on lots of it so I'd offer to send you a copy but don't want to confuse anyone!
