I thought it would be a good idea to make a thread for discussion about the transfer of Greater Anglia to public hands with just two weeks to go. They will be nationalised at 02:00 on Sunday 12/10/2025 in two weeks time.
Could anyone confirm what the last privatised train and the first nationalised train will be.
This is what i have found from looking through the timetables:
Final privatised "Greater Anglia" service (and the final overall privatised GA franchise service):
• 00:50 London Liverpool Street to Southend Victoria 01:57
Final privatised "Stansted Express" service (but not the final overall privatised GA franchise service):
• 00:30 Stansted Airport to London Liverpool Street 01:21
First nationalised "Stansted Express" service (and the first overall nationalised GA franchise service):
• 04:10 London Liverpool Street to Stansted Airport 04:59
First nationalised "Greater Anglia" service (but not the first overall nationalised GA franchise service):
• 06:15 Southend Victoria to London Liverpool Street 07:27
But please correct me if i am wrong as it is a large network and i may well have missed some.
Are there any mentions of Transport UK on the trains or stations anywhere? I remember that Abellio used to put their logo on them but i can not recall seeing the Transport UK name and logo anywhere. So possibly not. If so then this may be the first nationalisation that has not required the removal of any branding or logos?
It will also be interesting to see what happens regarding that reported merger of C2C and GA under a new Anglia region. I know that is not meant to be completed until 2027 but it shall be interesting to see if they begin to work more closely after GA is nationalised.
