The very first train of the day from Colchester to London Liverpool St departs Colchester at 04:43. It calls at Gidea Park at 05:31 and Seven Kings at 05:36.

This is the only train in the entire Colchester-Liverpool St timetable that calls at these stations.

Any idea why it is timetabled to call Gidea Park and Seven Kings, as there is no immediately obvious connection to other service.

Thanks.

Presumably it is largely for the benefit of drivers or other staff who need to get to Gidea Park sidings or Ilford Depot.

Correct, you win tonight's star prize :) The last train to Colchester also calls at Gidea Park.

Much like the very early Northampton and Milton Keynes services called at Wembley Central and Queens Park to drop off the very early turn drivers for Stonebridge Park and Queens Park LUL.

I was often reminded that any problem on the 0331 off Milton Keynes would have dire consequences not just for BR - but also for LUL !....

Doesn't stop at Queen's Park anymore according to Realtime Trains.

How did it work when these trains had to run on the fast lines. There aren't any fast line platforms at Queen's Park.

When I used to work at Ilford Depot that first train up the GE was a lifesaver when my car broke!
