Greater Anglia short set

Lost somewhere within Bank-Monument tube station,
I caught the Greater Anglia short MK3 set on the 08:50 Lowestoft-Norwich service this morning, with 47818 and 47841 top and tailing. Is there any reason why a DVT (I believe it was 82132) is included in this set, rather than an extra MK3 coach (yes, I know they're short of coaches), or not at all?

The DVT is used as crew accommodation and also to act as a brake vehicle as it is fitted with a hand brake which can be operated from inside, unlike the others.
