Greater Anglia Repainting

Hi I saw class 153 153314 the other day and it was still in ONE blue .
I thought that they had all be repainted ??

Same as every other toc does it. For the disabled.

Doors just have to be a certain % colour difference to keep the DDA squad happy. No great rush to re-livery at the moment.

White trains are crazy, especially with AGA who seem incapable of cleaning the outsides of their trains. I was at Stratford yesterday (Friday) and even the flagship Mark III services had white coaches that were filthy.

They're not the only TOC with white coaches and it's just such a stupid colour. Southeastern trains can also look very dirty, especially during the winter. Darker colours such as FGW and SWT blue look better, even when actually dirty.

Every GA train I have seen has been filthy on the outside. Time to get a proper livery and call it the Great Eastern Railway

Southern seem to pull off a mostly white livery well, as do SWT on their express services. It can work, but it's pretty foolish when the cleaning facilities are under strain as I believe AGA's are. Not impressed with the decision to go light on TSGN and East Coast (though the latter is likely to be clean) either.

Compare the class 156 (white red doors) to the blue with greater Anglia stripe (class 170)
on the 170s the dirt does not really show up at all compare to the 156's

What is the situation with the washes at Ilford?

The washer plant at Ilford is fully working and functioning 99% of the time, but its designed to keep a clean train clean, rather then scrub off lots of dirt. But there is hand cleaning of at least 3-4 units a day at Ilford which I must say has made a real dent in the browny units.

Plus as posted previously Colchester washer has been out of action for ages and has taken a month of Sundays to replace. Signs it may be ready soon though. But even then it is still a struggle to do the whole fleet regularly. Orient Way washer is newish and certainly makes the trains wet.
