I’m hoping they’re not too picky about location - I was in the running for the recent round of depot driver applications and I’m in Manchester. I got invited to assessments (but had to pull out of that one for various reasons).

First post here, also hoping GA isn't too fussy about location. I'm currently living in the USA but wanting to return to the UK in the near future. It seems a lot of TOCs want you to live so many minutes from the depot which is obviously a little hard to fulfil in my situation. Application submitted, SJT complete, we'll see what happens! It said on the instructions in the email I think that your computer needs to support flash. I don't have am iPhone anymore thankfully but I can't remember if iPhones support it or not but I doubt it, I'd use a computer personally

GA recruitment are really not bothered about location if you are willing to move. When I got my first job as a conductor with them I was living near Hereford and they took me on.

So don't worry about that!

It is interesting that when the positions were first listed they specified 6x qualified drivers and 20x trainees. The reference to numbers appears to have been removed.

I didn't see any numbers mentioned when I applied - which was the day after it was listed so that seems odd. I was looking at their franchise agreement summary on Wikipedia and it says there they will take 20 trainees on a year (although it didn't say trainee drivers specifically)

The advert was still open until midnight and there will be thousands of applications to go through.

Cambridge definitely are after 4-5 they took on previous from a distance have left to a closer TOC. Things change. 'I'll move' likely won't suffice anymore.

Could be waiting a while......... can take months. Just forget about the application you’ll hear back at some point but as teddyward said above there will be THOUSANDS of applications, each that needs to be read and sifted.

We have all learnt nothing is quick on the rail.

My email said that they aimed to reply within 14 days of the closing date so that's what I'm going by.

Southern took 4 months to get back to me when I applied to them last year!

I only submitted my application on Wednesday night at 9pm had a reply at 8am Friday morning inviting me to do the online assessments. Good luck to all who have applied hopefully you should hear something pretty soon.
