I haven't looked at Twitter today but assume that whatever AGA did to cope with the problems would have been considered inadequate by the usual suspects?

I lost the will to live and can't understand most of their posts but I'm pretty sure our good friend Wayne is claiming the ride over the bridge at Witham feel dangerous and made an Alton Towers joke.

Class acts all round.

Thanks the papers have just been on to me they said Abelios response was about lightning strikes that happened the night before. If that was the case why not tell us at Norwich ratherat North Walsham when platform 6 at Norwich quite clearly said Sheringham did they only find the lightning strikes 15 mins from when the train was due! Yet more porkies.

lifted from the 'notwork fail' site..

#Witham Damage to the railway bridge at Blunts Hall in Witham was discovered on Sunday morning.

Following temporary repairs, which took place throughout Sunday and on Sunday night, both lines reopened on Monday morning. A temporary speed limit is in place over the bridge – 40mph in one direction and 20mph in the other – meaning journeys through the affected area are taking a few minutes longer than normal.

Engineers will inspect the bridge further to see if the speed limit over the bridge can be increased further and further repairs will also need to be carried out to the brickwork.

Our High Output Ballast Cleaner – which renews the crushed rock foundation on which the tracks and sleepers are laid – was working on the section of the track above the bridge when the damage occurred. We are currently reviewing if all procedures were followed during this work.

Since January, the high-output machine has been working overnight on weeknights as part of a £170m upgrade of the line between London and Norwich taking place this year.

This is a vital project to replace the ballast, which supports the track and aims to provide a more reliable service.

The night before Norfolk was hit by some very big storms. A long term issue with the Sheringham line is that during electrical storms the signalling system can often fall over very badly.

On that Sunday the first two trains were outright cancelled as NR tried to fix it. After those pilot working was introduced but because of the delays caused by that the additional summer hourly services were taken out as it would have been impossible to run the hourly service while retaining any semblance of a timetabled service. Eventually by around lunchtime signalling was recovered and pilot working was withdrawn, your service however I think was the last service to start during the signalling outage with a pilotman so was, like all the others delayed by this.

Due to the timetabling of the Sheringham line the only way to recover right time running is to either pull a service entirely or more commonly turn a service at Cromer. Therefore your service, being the one up there at the time was turned at Cromer to recover right time service. No idea about the bus issue, as far as I was aware they had been accepting tickets all day.

Long story short, one train would have had to have been turned at Cromer or the delays would have lasted all day, it was your train, it happens.

Also, do remember this is a thread about general discussion of AGA and the GEML, not your personal customer service thread so don't expect a personal reply on your issue.

Who's idea is this bit of blatant fiddling of the figures then? Take out a stop to fail PPM and it doens't count as a short form when you are approaching breach for them...

17:25 London Liverpool Street to Southend Victoria due 18:30
This train will no longer call at Prittlewell.
Will be formed of 8 coaches instead of 12.
This is due to a train fault.

so decision take AFTER it left Norwich to turn at Cromer to get service back on an even keel, so good move overall, and the Bus Co, not advising all of it's staff about taking tickets, so not an AGA problem, he needs to be complaining to Sanders ?

Bingo...however you will never stop all of the AGA haters. Perhaps they will blame AGA, for the storms that started it all...

If a service doesn't call at all booked stops it is a PPM failure anyway so there is no "fiddle" there I'm afraid. I know 'Delayed Again' will be putting his latest FOI request in to show AGA are cooking to books even though that's not possible as NR monitor them. Everyday is apparently "chaos" on GEML.

Surely it'll count against both?

Yes. They are measured completely separately, so failing one does not mean that you can't fail the other. Now, if they cancelled the short-formed train then the accusation could be levelled...

Not what performance team say on peak reporting. If it was separate why would you take a stop out?

Of course they've been cancelling trains and runningecs in recent weeks for the same reason anyway so its an improvement on that.

the classic reason to skip stops on a short formed train is to reduce crowding on that service

Thanks James Reeve called me yesterday and was very helpful it would be unfair to repeat our conversation.as an aside though and I did laugh last night we all. Boarded the 10.45PM Norwich to Sheringham train platform 4 as per the departure boards then we were told to get off and go to platform 5,???????????? Fred Karnos circus comes to mind !

Not what performance team say on peak reporting.

I worry about that team.

PPM is an Industry Standard measure, operated by Network Rail. It is only interested in trains that are >5 or 10 minutes late (depending on the service) and trains that have been cancelled. The rest of the trains (i.e. those that run, and run <5/10 late) are compared to the planned trains.

Short Forms is a DfT measure that forms part of Schedule 7 of the Franchise Agreement on some franchises. This measures (and I quote from a recently let franchise) "the total number of Passenger Services in that Reporting Period operated in the Peak with less than the Passenger Carrying Capacity specified for each such Passenger".

It ought to be clear that the two are completely separate and do not depend one on the other. They're not even measured by the same people and TOCs have no responsibility for PPM.

Thanks mate - i was perhaps thinking, wheel flats, points failure, broken rails, dodgy doors, wet beds, quick sand, or even bandits. Surely most would know, no radio, no go. Still, it's another pointless gripe by the OP, about AGA, so I'm sure he feels better for his incomprehensible, uneducated, poorly written, statements.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---

10.06.15 16:45 Norwich to Sheringham will be terminated at Cromer due to a train fault.

prepare for the backlash..!! Tin hats at the ready..

I took my first trip beyond Shenfield yesterday, and I was pleasantly surprised. Once you get rid of all the grubby metro stock, it's travelling through green fields, past nice rivers, through interesting-looking stations. The Mk3 rake I was on was a bit dated inside, but still good enough. I also saw a large Vote UKIP poster strung from a stack of shipping containers, which seemed somewhat ironic.

Would the posters be there to welcome the migrants as the alight from those containers? :)

For anyone interested, there is a hauled set going down the Clacton Line tomorrow (12th) Top n Tailed and 12 coaches, leaves Colchester UPL (from Ipswich) at 0955, Hythe 10/00 Thorpe 1013, supposed to be going to Walton, but there are issues with timing a the passing loop at Kirby with the length of the train
After that back to Colchester UPL, then off to Harwich Town, (arr 1208) then off to Norwicn (arr 1347) and after that via Thetford to Peterboro

Nice to see the OP is mentioning me every now and then in random Tweets and then asking his followers to RT the message.

Two people re-tweeted.

Suddenly I don't feel very special anymore. I'd have hoped at least five people would. Out of the supposed 10,000 or 12,000 people who support him :(
