Next week, I want to travel from London to Norwich. Getting a first class ticket is about double the price of standard (it was about 15 quid more when I last did the trip in 2018), but I notice on GA's website you can get an upgrade for only £12. Is this really the case? And if so, do I just go and sit in first class and wait for the ticket inspector to come and upgrade me like on FGW/GWR?

Lastly, is the "free cup of tea" deal still on for first class passengers?

I’m travelling on Saturday, so it should be in place then?
Yes, it would be.

As I understand it, free first class refreshments on Greater Anglia are only available on weekdays.

If you wanted to upgrade on a weekday, the cheapest option is likely to involve using Seatfrog, as you'd otherwise have to pay the difference to the appropriate first class walk-up fare - which could work out very expensive.

755s (standard class only) were on the 10.00/15.00/20.00 from Liv St last Saturday. They’re easy to spot on RTT as they’re 11 cars instead of 12.

Think those are the three booked 755 workings, there are three each way normally and RTT does usually indicate which correctly in the service data, as opposed to just showing the 755 allocation itself.

The schedule data has them as standard class only, so you wouldn't be sold a first class ticket if selecting them

Also the 09:00/14:00/16:30/19:00 on Saturdays is normally booked to be a Stansted 745/1 standard class only, but does sometimes tend to swap to a intercity 745/0, or could end up with a double/triple traction 755 if there isn’t a 745/1 available.

If it is a late swap to a 745/0, first class will still not be free.
