Look on the internet, I found them in 30 seconds on Google

I had my manager's interview and nothing was asked of these. However if I remember correctly it was accountability, progress, responsibility, cusomer centric and efficiency. But don't quote me.

All my questions were criteria based just like the structured interview although they did quiz me on several parts of my application.

Hope this helps

J

J,

Thanks for the information you gave earlier about the sort of criteria based issues that might come up. Can you remember any specific questions that arose? Any help or information is greatly appriciated. I have my interview tomorrow.

Things like what your experience of shift work is and what procedures you have worked to. To be honest it happened like a whirlwind. I spent bloody ages waiting for interview, going through everything I knew about train driver etc and I even memorised routes but they asked me none of this. Reading the other threads I think different people may of been asked different questions which I find strange. I was asked several questions about my application itself. I really couldn't say how well I did. I was so nervous and just wish I could of relaxed a bit more. None of the questions were difficult though.

I wish you all the very best

regards

Hi J, have you heard anything yet?

At the manager's interview I was told that candidates would find out either way around mid January.

Anyone on here applied for cambs depot?

I applied for all three depots.

My experience was the same. Although I do feel I could have answered the questions a lot better if I didn't waste my time revising routes, finding out every little detail ever published about Abellio and various other things that never cropped up in the interview. AND if I wasn't so nervous!!! lol

As a general question:
Did anyone happen to ask at interview how many places there are for the March course? Or even how many vacancies there are to be filled from the latest round of interviews?

Good luck to all still in the running.

Hi

I forgot to ask, I just asked when we would be likely to hear. I was told mid Jan also. I suppose they are waiting for the last ones to be interviewed??
Anyone also applied for FCC? I got scaat test with them in two weeks and then if I pass its another driver manager interview. However If I am lucky enough to choose I would take GA definitely.

I asked how many places were left and was told 3. Think I was the last candidate to be interviewed as well. My interview was very different to you guys, a very informal chatty interview and glad I did some company research because that did come up.

Not too sure if you’re allowed to name people on a public forum but the interview was at Shenfield.

The interview itself was mostly based on my CV and just really informal. Very difficult to gauge how I did and was told he had a lot of candidates to choose from. Also the depot I wanted was full so if I am lucky enough to be offered a position it will be nearly an hour away.

Ah different job then.. Some of us applied for Chingford, Bishops Stortford and Cambridge. So I guess they aren't the ones with 3 vacancies.. Anyone know about those depots?

Yes, one of the interviewers told me mid January, and the reason for that was because they had others to interview.

with regards to whether to pick GA or FCC... best advice is to go for whoever fits best obviously if both made an offer. ;)

Southend is full and 3 left at Ilford

That sounds like the depot driver's jobs on GEML... Gosh... they must have had some response! Best of luck.

West Anglia vacancies. I am interested to know this too. Highly doubt there are only 3 vacancies for this intake for west Anglia, there were around 7-9 people in training across all three depots in the last intake... and most likely the same for the March intake. I just don't like guessing, and it would have been nice to have a solid answer.

When I applied it was advertised as a mainline job but has since changed to a depot job which is disappointing. Also it’s now going to be an hour away from where I applied but even though I would still accept if offered the position.

Sounds like a mistake somewhere. I am sure that drivers on the GEML start off as depot drivers then get into mainline driving as positions become available.

I will say though that all the letters that I received after the invite to assessment were headed: Trainee "Train Driver / Depot Driver". It is possible that they were sending a standard type of letter to both sets of candidates?

Most important thing is that you are still happy to do the job on offer. Good luck.

Do Norwich based drivers start off as depot drivers?

Also do GA still have drivers based at Liverpool St on former Anglia rotas?

Not a clue about Norwich, Ipswich and Liverpool street depots. There are Greater Anglia drivers that frequent the forum, one will be along shortly to clarify.

To my knowledge there are meant to be drivers based at London Liverpool Street, yes. But don't hold me to that. Information on the internet is dated and thus you shouldn't rely on my hearsay ;) lol

There is definitely still a guards depot at Liverpool Street. I am told they only work the Norwich services though.

Are all employees at GA employed by the same Abellio subsidiary or are there actually three separate divisions based on the three former franchises with different legal entities and conditions/agreements?

Norwich mainline driver start as depot drivers. You won't get into the Ipswich or Liverpool st depots without going through as a depot driver at ilford/Colchester/Clacton/Southend. All depot drivers do get trained mainline when it their turn. I know there is a lot of people who discount a depot drivers role as pointless and why shouldn't you try for mainline straight off but with competition for driving positions so fierce better to get in the grade and wait your turn.

Thanks for clarifying that Dave.

In the minority on here I know, but I'm more interested in joining as a guard rather than driver at the moment but was curious to know what the options could be for future career progression.

Do you have any idea how many conductors are based at Liverpool Street by any chance?

That's not an issue at all what so ever in going in as a guard then want to go driving in the future. I fact many of my colleagues are former guards and actually gives you a better chance of getting into the driving grade as being a guard is an extremely important role and gives you many of the skills looked for in a driver. I don't know how big the link is at Liverpool st for guards but I can find out for you.

That would be great, cheers.

Are there substantial differences in the agreements/conditions between the Anglia and GE depots? For eg, Sunday working, enhancements etc?

For drivers yes pay and conditions very different, not exactly sure how the conditions for guards stack up but again I can ask for you my friend.

I was told if I got through it wouldn't start till June.
