Why can't 47s work with a DBSO? I'm sure they used to in BR days?

How did 47s haul IC225 services in the past then? In another thread I started, it was said that 47s and 31s covered for Class 91s during a heavy snowfall, during the late 80s/early 90s some time.

As you said - they hauled the coaching stock, not propelled it with the DVT leading. It's the same situation when the thunderbird 67s have to haul IC225 sets - they can't be driven from the DVT (AFAIK).
