Greater Anglia 37’s

Yesterday I travelled from Norwich (NRW) to Great Yarmouth (GYM) on Greater Anglia.

The train was formed of three coaches, top and tailed by 37419 Leading and 374116 trailing. All in DRS livery.

Today I did the return journey and the set was formed in reverse formation.

My question is are these mk2, vechicles, I thought so but the coach with the guards van appears to be mk3, seats look similar to the ones on the London to Norwich runs with the metal backs.

There were from memory three MK3 brake vehicles made, they used to be on West Coast but are now I believe in the Cornish sleeper sets 17173-5.

All other WC rakes had 82xxx DVTs or other operators MK2 Brakes 94xx if a D/E 95xx if a MK2F

There are no Mk 3 Brake vehicles.

There are. 17173-175 in the GWR sleepers are brakes, and the DVTs are also brake vehicles.

All 3 coaches that make up the 37 set are Mk2s.

would need to check the coach numbers but the design is mk2d/e/f

Thanks all, thing that threw me was that in the passenger accomadation on the brake the seats were different, also the stickers above the door seemed to be bilingual (Welsh/English).

It said 9521 on the side.

9521 may well have been used on the Cardiff to Rhymney services, hence the bilingual signs.

Providing the Stadler units are accepted as planned the May timetable change should see the demise of the class 37 workings.
